Legacy Collection by Charmaine Taylor just has to be one of the most poignantly beautiful jewellery brands in South Africa. Now, she trots all over the globe attending glamorous red carpet charity and art events, rubbing shoulders with her high profile clients, fancy pants folk like Taraji P Henson, Sean Penn and Paula Abdul. The Legacy Collection also sells handmade beaded earrings, many of which are designed to feature different flags of different countries. But I do like the idea of planet-friendly products so Ben & Anna’s sweet smelling little stick is going to be my underarm BFF in the evening, when it’s cold or on days when I’m lapping up office aircon. Last, but not least, you might have noticed that The Body Shop’s having a bit of a love affair with Shea Butter right now. Initially, I really didn’t they’d work out for me as they’re formulated for dry hair that’s prone to breaking and mine is super fine and pretty healthy. I reckon it’s a nice pick for anyone craving moisture, but if your hair is truly damaged (as opposed to just ‘prone’) you’re going to need something that contains a lot of protein like keratin.
The next thing you know I’d slathered my entire face in T-Zone’s Rose Gold Peel-off mask (R90, Dis-Chem) and attempted to hit up a Pilates class. The mask is really just about mild exfoliation in a way that’s fun and looks cool on the ‘gram’, especially since it’s metallic. Having experimented with T-Zone’s mask a few times, I can say you’ll get maximum ‘peel for pull’ if you apply it in a medium layer (not too thin or too thick) and wait a full 30 minutes so that it’s bone try before you remove it. I initially thought I’d gotten a dud mask when it initially came out clear but soon realised the rose gold pigment (it looks like crushed rose gold eye shadow) had separated.
To me, Nuxe’s lip balm wasn’t broken and didn’t need fixing. As I don’t have super dry hands, this is great as my skin’s left feeling like it got the ‘drink’ Ingredients-wise, Nuxe’s 90% natural hand cream includes coconut oil, glycerin, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, honey, beeswax and vitamin E. Don’t’ get a fright if you spot a whack of alcohols in the list. If you’ve got very dry hands I think you’d be better off with something a bit richer and velvety-feeling, like Crabtree’s Gardener’s Hand Therapy*.
