Mama of four who eats too much and mostly writes a blog (instead of that book that I have been talking about for years)
There is also a Fizzy Elderflower that uses wild harvested British elderflower and a new more crisp and fiery blend of its original Ginger Beer with an added dash of zesty lime. Forget the fluorescent fizzy pop of your childhood that was full of colourings and sweeteners and quite possibly rocket fuel, these all natural drinks are subtly blended with British spring water and only ever contain real ingredients. The process Dalston’s use for bringing new drinks to life is essentially how you would approach developing a new recipe. For the purpose of this review I was kindly provided with press samples of a selection of flavours from Dalston’s drinks but all opinions and ice cream float making skills are my own.
This has been one of those rare months where I have absolutely loved every single book I have read. In many ways August seems to have flown by but it also seems like a million years ago that I read The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul by Deborah Rodriguez. I can’t remember reading another book quite like it. And last but by no means least is The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern which is yet another completely different book.
Animal print is everywhere and it looks like we will be buying and wearing nothing else all winter which is just like a dream come true to someone like me who can’t resist a bit of Bet Lynch. I have been wearing leopard print since way before it was cool and will no doubt be wearing it long after the trend has disappeared. It is perfect with a denim jacket now as the weather turns that bit chillier but in the coming weeks no doubt I will be wearing it with ankle boots and a leather biker. I’ve gone from being really cautious of the whole trainers-and-a-skirt/dress-thing thinking that it was just too fashion for a middle-aged mother of four living in a Yorkshire village to wearing nothing
One of the things I love about having so many children, and there are lots of reasons why I completely and utterly love having a big family, is seeing the relationships between each of the siblings grow. We always hoped to have a big family but the big gap in the middle wasn’t entirely planned. They are both growing up at an alarming rate (as children insist on doing) but despite no longer being quite so much in each other’s pockets as they start finding their own way as they make these tentative steps into the godawful tween years, they are still incredibly close. It inevitably involves lots of cats (they are their mother’s daughters) but basically they have decided that it makes sense if they live together when they grow up and leave home.
