With Lent starting tomorrow, I decided I wanted to come up with a way to have more conversations about this season with my kids. I’ve really tried over the last several years especially as my kids get older, to be more intentional with our time and conversations and the way we celebrate holidays. We will of course still read and use The Story Egg, but I’m excited to take that a little deeper and really dive into and have conversations about Lent and what we can give up and what we can do more of during this season. I don’t feel as though they’re old enough to be able to be responsible in making that decision, so I decided to go with these and each day they will either fast on something different, pray for someone, talk to God about how thankful they are, or read different bible chapters pertaining to how Jesus teaches us about things like how to be brave, about forgiveness, and more.

If you’ve been following me for a while now, you know I’m a mom to three kids and always looking for not just the hottest new products for moms to share with you, but telling you WHY. It’s not very often I sit through a movie and feel like they literally hit the nail on the head in many ways pertaining to real life issues and trials. It’s even less often that movie features a war story where I really feel like my life can apply to what is being said. But, what I loved watching his characters faith journey go from completely giving his whole life to God and trusting in Him, to crumbling and completely questioning God’s role and why He would let some of the things happen that He has. If you want to spend a few hours watching a movie with an incredible message and redemption story of a family who has gone through some awful trials, but with God as their foundation are able to work through those hard times and cling to their faith even when it didn’t seem possible; this movie is for you.
