Travel fun! Inspiring big adventures - by Phoebe Lee and Matt Turk
Then there’s the family and friends stuff, like being there for the people you love when they need you. Maybe, it’s about asking for help, sharing the things you’re struggling with and lightening your load so you can carry your apples safely and securely, without burning out in the process. The truth is, you never really know what’s going on and our perceptions of other people’s lives shouldn’t make us feel bad about our own. I’m not sure how that’s going to work for me just yet, but I’m very happy
There’s a distinct sense of community and honest living on Koh Yao Noi that puts a person at ease, you feel like you can really relax and immerse yourself in local life. The things I loved most about Koh Yao Noi are how peaceful the island is but also the sense of adventure I felt while I was there. We stayed in a deluxe room and loved it, although if I were staying for a week I’d probably opt for a Pool Villa as I love me a plunge pool! If you’re planning a holiday to Koh Yao Noi, you can’t go past a stay at Cape Kudu Hotel.
I had never had a fine-dining experience like that before in Bangkok and it really opened my eyes to the city’s food scene and just how diverse Thai food really is. Our belly’s full, we headed to the harbour and climbed into a longtail boat to transfer to our hotel, Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas. The following morning started with our last breakfast at Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas then we boarded a boat bound for Koh Yao Noi, an island destination I hadn’t visited before. We enjoyed a Thai buffet and ice-cold Chang beers as we floated along the Chao Praya River past some of Bangkok’s iconic spots and ancient buildings, including temples and bridges.
In reality, I haven’t really connected with Thailand until I’ve gotten away from the busy streets of Bangkok and to the beaches of spots like Krabi. I love street food as much as the next person but an experience like this is something you don’t forget and gives you the chance to try local food in a different way. The hop-on-hop-off bus service is probably the best I’ve ever experienced, it’s just been really well planned for travellers. The dining situation onboard The Chaophraya Cruise is buffet style so don’t go into it expecting food as special as spots like R-Haan and Never Ending Summer, though other boats may offer different dining options.
