After more research and another wood sample experiment, I found that clear wood furniture wax was my best bet since it helps protect the wood without changing the color hardly at all. Toscana Dining Table available {here}) and sealed it the same exact way as our Restoration Hardware table, again with results I’ve been thrilled with: See full Source List for our kitchen eat-in {here} or scroll and click/tap to shop this space below: Here’s the step by step of how to get the job done: Wax will trap any dust or particles on your table so it’s important to give it a good cleaning before sealing it. Get Ready with Your Wax & Waxing Brush There are several brands of clear wax to choose from but some don’t actually dry quite as clear as others. Let the wax dry completely (I let it dry overnight) and then apply a second thin coat in the same way as the first coat, again wiping off the excess and allowing it to dry.
Be sure to read all of the way through to the end of my post because I’m sharing all of the details of a free spring cleaning bundle that Grove is offering to my readers, including several Mrs. Meyer’s products and my favorite cleaning caddy: 2. it works beautifully: I also use microfiber cloths to clean off my cabinet hardware and while it probably wasn’t made for this, the super soft white part of Grove’s microfiber towels works really well for a quick hardware polish after I’ve wiped them down: The free bundle includes: Mrs. Meyer’s Hand Soap Mrs. Meyer’s Dish Soap Mrs. Meyers Hand Lotion Thanks as always for stopping by and enjoy your weekend, Large glass vase | Gray bathroom vanity | Bathroom faucet with {these handles}| Striped bathroom towel | Black & white bathroom wallpaper | Woven ceramic planter | Kitchen faucet | Large zigzag basket with towels | Woven baskets holding cleaners in closet | Tall narrow woven baskets at bottom of closet | mini chalkboards on woven baskets (labeled with {these chalk pens} | Brass pulls on kitchen cabinets | All other kitchen sources can be found in the Source List at the bottom of {this post}
Even though it’s a tiny space, since it’s one that we use daily, it makes me happy that it’s now both pretty and functional and fits in well with the kitchen and kitchen eat-in area surrounding it I initially painted them Benjamin Moore Dove White but it was a touch more yellow than I wanted so when we remodeled our kitchen last year, I repainted the entire space including our little garage entryway, kitchen, and kitchen eat-in with Benjamin Moore Cloud White in Flat. It’s the perfect spot for placing notes the girls need to take to school, letters to mail, {this little marble bowl} for my husband’s change (I’m going to try to get him to empty his pockets in that little marble bowl as he walks in because I find his change EVERYWHERE), and a small wood + bone box for our car keys: Most of these same little upgrades could be used at a front door entryway too – even just adding a cute mirror and shelf is a simple weekend project that would add so much to your home! Both of these things (and the cute rope mirror I used at our garage entryway) are 20% off this weekend as part of Serena & Lily’s Spring Design Event so if you’ve been thinking of getting anything from them to refresh your home, now’s the time!
