We obviously don’t get the day off in the UK but plan on making up for it with a small celebration on Saturday – I always love any excuse to get dressed up for a holiday, even if it’s just my best casual wear. So today, I wanted to share two great last minute (and affordable! ) Most of the items below are from either J. Crew Factory, Target, or Nordstrom which should help with the last minute shopping if you have those stores near you.
Like I mentioned on Saturday, we took Blakely to the German Christmas market to kick off the holiday season. but the one closest to us runs for about a month in the city centre of Birmingham. There are tons of craft stalls with handcrafted wood toys, ornaments, hats, scarves, and more and then even more food stalls with traditional bratwurst, pretzel sandwiches, and donuts. We went pretty early in the day (around 11:30am; it opened at 10:00) and it was still crazy busy.
The Birmingham Christmas Market opens today in the city centre so we’re going to brave the cold weather and take Blakely to her first Christmas event of the season! Since we don’t get Thanksgiving off here in the UK, I’m making an exception to my usual no Christmas until after Thanksgiving rule (I love Thanksgiving and fall decor – why rush it? ? ) and starting our Christmas celebrating a little early this year. Here are some of the things I was loving/reading this week: I’ve been trying to get back into workouts and am managing to squeeze in a 30 minute Barre3 workout most days – and as a Thanksgiving treat, Barre3 is giving everyone a free 30 minute online workout! I love the Kristin Ess by Target line and am dying to check out this gorgeous new hair dryer and curling wand.
Family pajamas have been a trend for the last few years and this year, it seems like major retailers are finally jumping on board with dedicated sections of their websites with family pajama collections and ideas. and I’ve been particularly loving the ones at Target, Burt’s Bees, and Old Navy. Target has some really cute sets: And even a set included in the Hearth and Hand by Magnolia Holiday Collection (See my full picks for that collection here! ). The Burt’s Bees ones are a little pricier but are super cute, high quality and made with organic cotton: And finally, Old Navy may have my favorite options this year and is where I decided to order ours from: I picked out the classic buffalo plaid so that we could also get use from them after Christmas was over too:
