I'm Allison, a social media obsessed Southern girl who believes the answer to the question "Why?" is Because I Said So!
We’ve lived just North of New Orleans my whole life, but have never managed to do a certain few things in the city (just 40 minutes south). When we finally made it over to the city, we grabbed a spot to park near our destination (The Steamboat Natchez) and began our Girls’ Day in New Orleans! We ordered a cheeseboard, two rustic grilled cheeses, a Ploughman’s Lunch, Cheesemonger’s Mac and Cheese, and Raclette & Potatoes. If you’re looking for a thoughtful, creative getaway for your bachelorette party, bachelor party, or girls’ day in New Orleans, they are your gals.
While I wasn’t born in Hammond or even in the same parish, I’ve come to love the small town–quirks and all. The city is full of quintessential restaurants that can be found on almost every corner and if you’re looking for fresh, the city center hosts a farmer’s market every weekend. As a frequent shopper of boutiques and self-proclaimed purveyor of shopping local, I have to say that I’ve bought at least 60% of the things in my closet from local boutiques in Hammond. And if I don’t end up buying it myself, I borrow it from my sister, Stephanie, who bought it from a boutique in Hammond.
Lately I’ve been spending my time watching all of Season One of Riverdale (I’m obsessed), searching for all of the crockpot recipes, and forever trying to make new and different outfits out of my closet full of clothes. One of my favorite ways to jazz up a good casual outfit is by adding a smart blazer. And while my cardigan collection is seriously lacking, I have four good blazers–my favorite being this navy blazer. The relaxed fit and bows on the sleeves are just some of the reasons I love this navy blazer–it also just feels good.
I was so excited to sign up for the 36th Annual Strawberry Strut–my first race in Ponchatoula. The Strawberry Strut is a 1 mile, 5K, and 10K race that is hosted by the Ponchatoula Jaycees every year in conjunction with the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival. My overall goal for this race was to beat my time from this 5K and not to walk. They served Strawberry Shortcake made with local Ponchatoula strawberries after the race!
