On another note, since I no longer work from home, my dedicated office space has been converted into Pat’s music room. Basically, I have been trying to revamp my home and make it a place that I want to come home to every day after work. Now, when I look at my home, I see potential and character, but there’s still more work to be done. It’s going to be the year I kick major ass and carve a new path for myself – and hey, I already got a head start at the end of last year!

If there’s one thing empaths are famous for, it’s attracting virulent people like a moth to a damn flame, but more on this in a later post! You have to recognize the signs and learn to let go of the toxic friendship, as painful as you may think it will be. You talk to your friend and like clockwork, all they want to talk about is how crappy their day was, how hard their life is, how frustrating their marriage is, or their “dark and twisted” past. Next thing you know, your horrible best friend tells you that the other bestie is your replacement, and as you fight to stay relevant, you lose yourself, and your own dignity, over jealousy and competition that your vicious best friend created.

Don’t bend or mold for those who don’t accept you for who you truly are. * Don’t say hurtful things, even behind someone’s back. Don’t lie to yourself and certainly don’t lie to the people who love you. * You don’t destroy the people you love; you build them up and help them grow.

We work for our dreams and squash our goals just to immediately set new ones; never taking the time to savor the moment. Sure it’s funny to hear someone say that, but it doesn’t mean that it isn’t a very real thing. You shouldn’t become a slave to your wishes or the wishes of others – you have one life, and there is no guarantee how much time you will have to make the most of it.
