InfoReady Corporation, a leading provider of review management software to higher education, announced today that Western Michigan University (WMU) is one of the several universities using InfoReady’s Review software platform to finalize plans for returning to in-person instruction under the adversity of the COVID-19 pandemic. The platform is being used at WMU to collect, evaluate and select detailed proposals from various university offices as part of safely resuming on-campus classes after months of delivering instruction through distance education and continuing research. To collect, review, and approve plans expeditiously and carefully, the University is employing InfoReady’s Review software platform. InfoReady [www.inforeadycorp.com] helps universities become cohesive, vibrant, competitive, and engaging communities through a software platform transforming higher education.
Most research offices have methods for collecting and processing project extension requests, and InfoReady Review™ happens to be a convenient tool for doing so. As a separate “competition” in the system - This method acts as a submission form and routing structure to collect data about the PI, the project, and reasons extra time is needed. Tracking on the Award screen of the application - InfoReady Review has built-in functionality to add extension information on the Award screen of the original application that was submitted. Administrators can even couple the aforementioned three options with additional progress reports in the system to gather other information as the project progresses, based on the granted extension.
The Office of Research Development at UC Merced began using InfoReady Review™ in 2015 to facilitate their Limited Submissions process. We sat down with Melinda Laroco Boehm, Ph.D. (Director, Office of Research Development) and Kelly Bolcavage (Research Development Officer) to reflect on their journey with the platform so far. InfoReady Review allows us to both post and run internal (LS) competitions in the same place, which also allows for better organization and acts as a historical repository. Review keeps a historical record of the University’s limited submission events—who has applied, which opportunities are popular (and less so), who has been awarded, as well as who has served as reviewers with access to those review comments.
They support research across campus by providing a variety of resources, including the internal funding programs that foster the growth and development of researchers and their ideas. In a recent webinar, Hana Kabashi, Program Manager at the University of Maryland, shared examples of four programs her office facilitates to “grow the volume and visibility of UMD’s research enterprise. None Goal 1 - Fill in the gaps for non-STEM related projects: The awards can go toward teaching release summer salaries, or other research-related expenses like archival projects, travel, field studies, and digitization. We want to thank Hana for sharing her team’s experience with faculty research support programs and grand challenges.
