Highlights
Getaway at Breezes Beach Club And Spa Zanzibar

The second part of my Zanzibar trip was spent by the beach at the the Breezes Beach Club & Spa, a family owned and managed resort situated at a pristine tidal beach on Bwejuu, the south-east coast of Zanzibar – a traditionally Muslim island off the coast of Tanzania. The Hotel is part of the Zanzibar Collection – a group of Zanzibar’s most sought-after beach hotels including the Baraza Resort and Spa, The Palms, and The Zawadi Hotel. The hotel buildings are situated in a perfectly maintained garden with lots of awesome settings ideal for photography, which is one of my favourite activities, including a beautiful pool and a swing which I loved. The Frangipani Spa with its unique offer of several services performed by skilled therapists from Thailand and Bali is what makes Breezes stand out as an amazing opportunity to relieve you of your stress, offering you complete relaxation of body and mind in a beautiful and sophisticated setting.

Swimming with Turtles in Zanzibar – What you need to know

One of the highlights of my recent trip to Zanzibar was swimming with the friendly turtles at the Baraka Natural Aquarium on Nugwi Beach in the north of Zanzibar. The aquarium is actually a small natural pond – a grotto, which serves as a sanctuary for the turtles. The conservancy receives turtles which have been accidentally caught in fishing nets, and gives them a chance to recuperate before being released into the open ocean again. If you are not a good swimmer, you will have to make do with sitting by the edge of the pond since the water gets quite deep – up to 2 meters – so definitely bring a life jacket.

Emerson on Hurumzi – Charming Elegance In the heart of stone town

The Emerson Hotel is the second tallest building located right in the heart of Stone Town, the historic capital of Zanzibar – a traditionally Muslim island off the coast of Tanzania. Be sure to get here by 6pm to enjoy the sunset and the stunning view of the ocean with a 360 degree view of Stone Town while sipping your sundowner, before moving on to a wide selection of mouthwatering Persian, Omani and Swahili inspired dishes – seated, as we were, in traditional Swahili style, at low tables, on thick Persian rugs. On our first night, we indulged in a three course meal of the chef’s special of coconut rice, an assortment of salads, meats and house made chutneys – rounded off with a dessert dubbed ‘Zanzibar delight’ , a fruit salad with a topping of dates and avocados as a talented Taarab singer took the stage and serenaded us into the night. We often had our delicious breakfasts of tropical fruits, pancakes, omelette and an assortment of traditional Swahili pastries by our room and one morning, the manager Obama was kind enough to let us have our meal in an unoccupied room

WHAT I WORE to the 9th Edition of FASHION HIGH TEA

Fashion High Tea is one of my fave fashion events in Kenya; we all get to dress up for a great cause and fun afternoon of yummy food at the Zen garden in Nairobi. This year, there was a specially selected lavish menu including a Zen Sushi Bar, Extravagant Desserts, Ice-creams from Haagan-Dazs, Live Savoury Stations, Burger Bars, including a cheese bar by Brown’s Cheese! When a Kenyan fashion designer reached out to me with pictures of this pant suit worn on a mannequin, I thought to myself – nice pant suit, I could rock this on a casual day to an official meeting I told her that I wanted a sleek look, and boy oh boy this hair felt like silk – it was light, and I often caught myself taking off my gloves just to play with it.
