While no college student is perfect, and stress is unfortunately unavoidable, here are some tips I have to attempt to alleviate some of that dreaded stress. Whether it be playing your favorite board or video game, watching an episode of your favorite television show, or even going to the gym – making time for those activities that spark a certain joy in your life is essential. To me this could look like taking time to pick out an outfit I feel confident in and putting makeup on. This could also look like treating yourself to a haircut or setting aside time to get a massage or do yoga – honestly whatever works for you.
It was not my first choice of college, and hadn’t even been on my radar until my senior year of high school. So, attending school here came as a MAJOR surprise to me as much as it did anyone else. After being rejected from my number one school, I had settled on the idea of attending an in-state school that happened to be not too far from my home. I created a lot of pros in my head on why this would be the best choice for me, and my mother had even began to pay my dorm fee.
The other school is Columbia Journalism School. After all, I feel lucky that I have the chance to be able to consider on attending to grad school—not everyone has that sort of luxury. Despite the fact that I am probably attending grad school, I do not know if I will end up doing journalism for the rest of my life. Do not stress if you do not want go to grad school right away or ever.
Before getting into college, nobody ever told me that college would be difficult, but then again., nobody ever told me college would be easy. There may be aspects of college that require more work than others, and there may be aspects of college that may make you consider quitting. I am here to remind you that while it may be difficult at times, remember that getting through college is possible. Although certain parts and points of college may get difficult, it is not impossible to get through them with the help of university resources.
