Committed to the art of pretty. http://nycfaces.net
Something about this posture is reminding me of the Defiant Girl statue on Wall St. right now. Stephanie and Ryan got married at The Foundry, one of the most beautiful venues in NYC. She's Filipino, and has a beautiful, warm/tan/golden complexion. We did a fun, metallic/sparkly shadow on her that I really loved.
It looked crazy bright in the case, but such is the case with many matte shadows, it didnt have a ton of color payoff. Which is totally fine; the poor girl didn't want to look like a clown. But it was good to remember to sometimes go for those crazy-looking colors in my kit, as they rarely come out looking crazy. So I think we found a really good medium-level of makeup where we could see her eyes past the glasses, but she didn't look overdone.
Besides having twelve million things in common (theatre, love of animals, travel, believing that systemic racism is a bad thing), she was also easy as pie to work with. There is a bridal suite, down the hall a bit from the main venue space, but there’s no air conditioning in there I don’t know WHY I appear to be having SO MUCH FUN with my airbrush gun, but apparently I was! Party time! It has her lip products (many of which are handmade by me), a translucent powder (also made by me), a flluffy kabuki brush for the powder, and some paper straws for the bride to drink from
Here's a shot of one of my eyeshadow palettes (hand-pressed by me), as well as Heather's face chart that I put together after her trial run. Here's me applying some false lashes to the MIL Something to keep in mind is that for more mature ladies, "false lashes" conjures up images of giant, plasticky, Halloween-appropriate strip-lashes. The more subtle strips and the cluster lashes weren't largely available until the 1980s or so.
