To Mom With Love

Instead of short takes of scripted dialogue, I gave stimulus on topics like the evolving role of motherhood from generation to generation, followed my personal opinion, off they went: these two well-spoken women of substance and humour, riffing on complex subject matter as a means of demonstrating the reality of their relationship. Since establishing her website in 2009, Margaret has gone on to work with global brands including CHANEL, UNIQLO, Swarovski, YEEZY, Bulgari, Gucci, MATCHES, Under Armour, and Louis Vuitton in a wide range of capacities both in front of and behind the camera, while completing her Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Laws at The University of Sydney. She has been listed in Forbes Asia’s 30Under30 and TimeOut’s 40Under40, and her work has been recognized as shaping the international fashion industry by the Business of Fashion BoF500 Index for the past four consecutive years. In 2016, she co-founded BACKGROUND, a global consultancy for which she specialises in Western-to-Chinese and Chinese-to-Western cultural bridging for a range of luxury, lifestyle, and brand initiatives.

Nothing compares to silent swimming at sunrise and dolphin-watching at sunset in pastel shades that will bowl you over, then slap you in the face with the harsh reality of a thousand low-lying coral islands, which were once five thousand, and will likely be completely submerged within the century. Over two days, I learned both painful ramifications of a global warming, and the promising conservation efforts from Soneva’s team of marine biologists and sustainability teams – which, though exceptional in their proficiency and innovation, take significant amounts of time that cannot be afforded by the constant and looming threat of a few extra degrees in ocean temperatures, and thus coral bleaching that can wipe out years of regeneration work and diverse ecosystems that rely on these delicate organisms. Years on, ensconced in a robe, hair tendril-ed about my face from a blind and silent hour in a steam room, tongue burnt on my favourite 铁观音 (tiě guān yīn) tea, But like New York, a few short hours on the train will take you back to a simpler time of spiritual presence, handpicked tea, patient centre lines and deep breathing of calligraphy.photographs taken at the AMAN Fayun Margaret Zhang 章凝 is an Australian-born-Chinese director, photographer, consultant and writer based between New York and Shanghai. I also don’t know that many people who have their own place these days, but I don’t know if that’s just because Australia is so expensive that it’s kind of rare for someone to own their own house. I feel like there used to be more of a sense of I can’t wait to own my own house, whereas now everyone’s like, I can’t wait to travel. it’s just totally normal for you to go to the other side of the country when you are 17 there, whereas here, people do move interstate for university, but I don’t think there is as intense a college culture, and people just, like, go to the university in their city and that’s totally fine. And just because you don’t post something, it doesn’t mean you don’t care about slavery in Libya or women’s rights, because that’s also a slippery slope
