From Idaho we made our way to Oregon to visit Crater Lake National Park. Some curiosities about Crater Lake: 🏔 Crater Lake occupies the shell of Mount Mazama, a collapsed volcano! 💧 It is the DEEPEST LAKE in the United States and deepest volcanic lake in the world! 🌋Mount Mazama is dormant but not dead! The last eruption was 4,800 years ago. 🏊🏽‍♂️You can swim there and even take boat tours! But they were not available yet so I didn’t do it! The Route of the Hiawatha is on Idaho Montana border. Rent a bike and explore 15 miles of an old train track with 10 train tunnels and 7 sky-high trestles. - 🚲 The mountain bike trail is downhill, and when you get to Pearson you take a shuttle back up, which also brings back your bike, so that you can return it. 🚵🏼‍♀️ My favorite part was crossing the trestles (bridges). Now I understand why the route was called one of the most scenic stretches of railroad in the country!! 🎟Tickets sold online. With bike, trail and shuttle I spent $135 for two people. Hot Springs that you thought only existed in dreams: Goldbug Hot Springs. After hiking up 2 miles you will be relaxing in cliffside natural hot springs. Bonus if you hike early and are the only one there! 📍Location: South of Salmon, Idaho. 🛌 Airbnb: if you are spending one night in Salmon before hiking Goldbug I would recommend sleeping at the Gipsy Wagon Airbnb. Why? Because it is awesome (check my Idaho highlights) and it is only two miles away from the trailhead! 🧗🏻‍♂️The hike is pretty straightforward (and very steep!). 💦 There are different pools - a large one at the top and then 15 foot waterfalls of hot water feed two pools below. I did not reach Goat Lake, in the Sawtooth Wilderness (Idaho), but I admired some amazing views along the 8-mile hike! - 📍Sawtooth Wilderness, via Stanley, Idaho. 🛌 I would recommend sleeping in Stanley for one night (or more) depending on the # of hikes you want to do! 🧗🏻‍♂️Some famous hikes in the area: Alice Lake, Sawtooth Lake, Goat 🐐 Lake, Alpine Lake. There are some easier hikes too! I aimed too high but couldn’t go past the rock wall to reach Goat Lake! - 🇧🇷 Essa foto é no caminho para Goat Lake, em Idaho. Apesar de estar muito calor, os picos ainda tem neve! Muito linda essa paisagem, e a luz nem se fala! Não consegui finalizar essa caminhada por há um paredão de pedra antes do lago, que era muito assustador haha! Mas as vistas já valeram a pena! Seen here: Tree Molds (lava-charred trees). - In @cratersofthemoon_nps most roads, trails and facilities are now open including the 7-mile Loop Drive and campgrounds. If you don’t have a pass, it costs $20 per vehicle (ticket valid only here). - 🇧🇷 Ontem conhecemos o Craters of The Moon, um lugar incrível em Idaho, Estados Unidos. Existiam vulcões nessa área e hoje o solo é preto, como visto acima. Na esquerda da foto você pode ver árvores soterradas pela lava. Let’s talk...Hotel “Surprise and Delight” amenities! Will they change in a post-covid world?! This 📸 is from 2019 when I stayed at the Sheraton Seattle. I love how amenities are thoughtful when connected to guests’ preferences (you don’t want to give chocolate when the guest prefers fruits & healthy snacks). But I digress... talking “new normal” I imagine that amenities will be pre-packaged. Some ideas from Hotelier2Hotelier: 🍡 Make amenities in-house by Pastry Team but package them properly so that guest knows it did not come in contact with anything. Even fruits! I suggest whole fruits. 🍪 Make partnership with local producers such as small companies that make traditional food or desserts from the region. It is great to support small businesses and help the local economy. Guests will love it too! 🍫 Create different amenities packages to tailor to different needs and occasions. Hotel Breakfast at Home?! Yes! Love this idea from @hotelemiliano in São Paulo, Brazil. Hotel Emiliano has an app in which you can order items to be delivered at home, and not only breakfast! I also saw they had a dinner made especially for Valentine’s Day (June 12th, in Brazil). It is great to see how hotels are adapting during the pandemic - and I can see some of these ideas coming to stay and becoming an extra source of revenue. - Hotels in Brazil have the BEST breakfast (well, at least I think so!) full of fruits, homemade breads and jam, cake, pão de queijo...
