Moderate daily drinking will not improve your health. As a growing number of addiction and alcohol consumption researchers have been pointing out, the notion of a safe and even beneficial level of daily drinking is outmoded and in error. In an article published in Lancet , researchers offer strong evidence against the theory, based on data from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study of 195 countries and territories. In an accompanying commentary, researchers note that the data "clearly demonstrate the substantial, and larger than previously estimated, contribution of alcohol to death, disability, and ill health, globally."(See my post from 2015 predicting the death of the "moderate drinking" meme.)
