Winter surfing experiences at Surf Sanctuary

The winter months are an excellent time to surf; you get more time, more waves, more space, and there’s a glow to your skin that stays with you the whole day. We’re pretty sure you won’t find kit like this handed out elsewhere, it’s way beyond usual ‘school kit’ but it’s what our surf coaches wear – When it doesn’t get light till 8am and it’s already dark at 4.30pm, it may be too dark to surf when the tide is where you want it to be, and when you combine this with trying to find the best spot for the current conditions it’s all to easy to get ‘skunked’. On the day of your lesson you won’t need to make any great preparations; by the time you’ve suited up in the warm changing rooms you’ll be as warm as you’re ever going to be 🙂

Atlantic Expeditions: exceedingly adventurous and memorable SUP tours in Cornwall.

I wanted to make the best SUP experience imaginable, the sort of thing that I would go for if I saw it on offer somewhere. Thus, I created Atlantic Expeditions

This week at Surf Sanctuary: 21st May 2018

Monday and Tuesday are dominated by a continental weather system bringing dry air and the a big high swings in from the Atlantic Ocean with a little extra pulse of swell Thursday onward. What that means in real terms is 2ft of easy surf till Wednesday, ideal for a longboard, SUP or foamie, ramping up to around 3-4ft on Thursday. If the wind swings a little onshore, it should yield some good shortboard-able conditions (as Pepe says, Fistral is always better with a little onshore). Look at the categories down the left hand side of the image – wind speed, wind direction, wave size, wave period, and wave direction.

Infinity Flow Surf Clinic, 28th April 2018

Hello crew, we're very excited to announce our first clinic for 2018 - Infinity Flow with 3 x British Champion Alan Stokes and ISA Level 2 coach Dom Moore (that's me). Infinity Flow is a unique day of surf coaching centred around Alan's 20 years of professional surfing experience and proven training methods. You will discover Alan's own 'Infinity Flow' movement mapping method, pro tips and tricks using dynamic movement training, as well as surf simulations, surf environment breakdowns and in water coaching. Combining Al's extensive competition and freesurfing experience with Dom's background in coaching across several ocean sports, the course has been developed to hack the surfing learning curve, offering expert advice whilst highlighting and breaking down bad habits that ultimately lead to poor performance.
