Of course you no doubt know that I am referring to the President and First Lady of Americana, Buddy and Julie Miller. He has also produced albums from Richard Thompson, Shawn Colvin and Steve Earle, Patty Griffin and the War & Treaty just to name a few. As if that wasn’t enough to keep him busy, he worked with T-Bone Burnett on the ABC/CMT series Nashville, and became the show’s Executive Music Producer after Burnett left. The lyrics describe the plight of child soldiers stripped from their families in third world countries forced into combat.

When I perform solo as Gary Nicholson I rent a vehicle in that area. Don’t break many strings because I change them regularly for tone on my touring instruments although I love older strings for recording specific instruments. Born in Commerce, Texas, and raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Nicholson started playing guitar at 10 and began his music career as a teen. The list of artists with whom he shares writing credits or who have recorded his songs include George Strait, George Jones, Marty Stuart, Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, the Dixie Chicks, Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, Dave Edmunds, Michael McDonald, the String Cheese Incident, NRBQ, George Thorogood, Foghat and Phish frontman Trey Anastasio.

Matthew Logan Vasquez on the Hobo Day Spa and the Importance of Keeping Busy Tell us about your tour vehicle. As a solo artist, he juggles elements of indie rock, electronic pop, R&B, and soulful Americana, flirting with despondency, but ultimately succumbing to beatitude, especially on 2017’s home recorded, yet vibrant sophomore effort, Does What He Wants. After releasing Delta Spirit’s critically acclaimed fourth studio album, Into the Wide, in 2014, Vasquez moved with his wife and newborn son to Austin, Texas and began working on what would become his debut solo outing. The resulting Austin EP, which finds Vasquez manning every instrument and offering up a blistering set of outlaw psych rock, arrived in 2015, with plans to issue his debut long-player, Solicitor Returns, in early 2016.
