Wrap Around the Holidays

When LOFT launched extended sizes earlier this year, I was excited to bring it into my wardrobe as part of a great rotation of brands I can rely on: the quality is great, it’s accessibly priced, and the pieces keep me in check for my professional life while still feeling youthful and trend-conscious. I paired it with this pretty star necklace (I’m a sucker for celestial themes and mixed metals) for a day of meetings this week. This season, I’ve also reallllly been leaning into comfort and luxurious feeling sweaters, and love the cozy knits available at LOFT right now. This shawl style is perfect for travel and on-the-go looks, and this deep-V is great to pair with jeans and a tee with jeans or over sleek trousers.

Introducing #NMxVEDAx11H

Over the last year, we’ve gotten even closer and shared our visions for growing our brands, and I’ve become a major fan and customer of his (procuring so many of my non-Premme wardrobe workhorses from 11Honoré). One of the brands that I’ve also developed my own love and relationship with is Veda, a NYC-based line founded by designer Lindsey Weber with leather at its core. As we all got closer, it seemed natural that we would all someday work on cooking something up together, and I’m so excited to share the first iteration of that idea: a 3-piece capsule of wearable statements curated by me for 11Honoré x Veda, which launches today! We started by curating a few pieces from Veda’s ready-to-wear line, and I chose what I basically felt were my favorite mix-and-match pieces that transition easily from work to weekend: a statement-making wrap dress, a colorblocked alpaca sweater, and the ultimate: a buttery soft leather cropped motorcycle jacket in the prettiest lilac shade.

and it’s something that has been consistent for ModCloth’s growth, too, with many of their designs and collaborations ranging from an XS-4X. While I’ll always love my monochromatic black and white looks and my pops of pink, I’ve been loving warmer and earthier tones lately, too – and totally fell in love with this romantic emerald dress from Modcloth’s fall assortment. It’s definitely not casual, but it’s so romantic, ethereal, and catches light in the most beautiful way. My style doesn’t often veer towards “romantic,” but wearing this dress and seeing Modcloth’s collaboration with Anna Sui left me feeling inspired.

What I Learned Through DNA Testing

Both my parents did 23andMe’s Health + Ancestry Service earlier this summer, and their reports were so interesting,  (like the fact that my mom has a genetic variant associated with a slightly increased risk of developing celiac disease, which I have)  that I was excited to try it out for myself, too. The 23andMe PGS test uses qualitative genotyping to detect select clinically relevant variants in the genomic DNA of adults from saliva for the purpose of reporting and interpreting genetic health risks. Each genetic health risk report describes if a person has variants associated with a higher risk of developing a disease, but does not describe a person’s overall risk of developing the disease. The Celiac Disease genetic health risk report (i) is indicated for reporting of the rs2187668 variant in the HLA-DQA1 gene, which tags the HLA-DQ2.5 haplotype, and the rs7454108 variant near the HLA-DQB1 gene, which tags the HLA-DQ8 haplotype and (ii) describes if a person has variants associated with a higher risk of developing celiac disease.
