As I type, she is waiting to see if she “gets” to be one of nine jury members in a case I know nothing about. She replied that she has help for the kids and the experience might be interesting. All of a sudden, this time spent in a courthouse, didn’t sound so bad. In fact, it kind of sounded a little on the euphoric side of things.
Obviously, I didn’t quit, I didn’t even leave the house. As child after child were added to our home repetition became a major part of my day to day existence. The child that can read the look on your face and the tone of your voice like a book and still chooses to interpret your words LITERALLY? That kid usually comes with a super sweet smile and a gleam in their eye often displayed on a head tilted slightly to the left. That Kid” fosters and displays their understanding of the English language, quite literally, and finds solutions around their undesired circumstance. Because the ability to find the loophole in a situation or understanding a way to steer the conversation so the conflict de-escalates are wonderful traits to carry.
One of my favorite things about Coyote Springs Elementary School is the willingness to be truly diverse.
