Award winning parent blog by magazine editor Alison Perry - http://www.notanothermummyblog.com
Families come in all shapes and sizes, and there’s no one single way of “doing” motherhood. My guest on this episode, Sarah Gregory, is a mum of four – with her children ranging in age from six to 20
The podcast is back and what a guest I have to kick things off again with! Philippa Perry is a psychotherapist and author of The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read (and Your Children Will Be Glad That You Did) – the No 1 Sunday Times Bestseller which has been described as the parenting book for people who hate parenting books. Philippa’s own daughter is in her 20s so she has been there, done that and got the t-shirt, when it comes to parenting, and her book is engaging and clever, making you look at how you were brought up and think about the ways that affects how you parent
We’re five months into being a family of five and I can’t help but regularly compare the experience to what it was like to have a small baby, first time around in 2010. It couldn’t feel more different
I’ve really enjoyed taking a proper maternity leave after my twin girls were born in October, which has meant: not much blogging, no podcasting and pretty much devoting all of my tired brain cells to keeping two new small humans alive every day. But thanks to Mr P taking some time off work to be at home, looking after our three girls, doing the school run and generally keeping our home running smoothly (unlike the chaos I used to have it in…) I’m trying a new thing where, rather than just rocking up to someone’s house with my microphone, I’ve got a studio and a producer, Imogen, working with me. So, there will be a couple of episodes which I recorded last summer, when I was heavily pregnant (and reached a point where, in the heatwave and battling twin-pregnancy-tiredness) I had no energy to edit and release any podcast episodes and there will be some new chats – including interviews with #1 Sunday Times Bestselling author Philippa Perry, Instadad Simon Hooper aka Father of Daughters, awesome writer Sarah Gregory, author and food blogger extraordinaire Emily Leary and Instagram funny lady Rosie Ramsay.
