I blog about my obsession with running, healthy eating, my husband and son, and our life in Alaska. Follow along!
I cannot explain how happy I am that winter is over! I forget how draining winter is until it is over. We have been so lucky to have sunshine and 40+*F weather here for the past few weeks
I’m still plugging away at the miles, but after successfully running 60 miles in Hawaii, I did realize that the snow and ice definitely aggravate my hamstring, so I’ve dialed back a bit waiting for the snow and ice to melt. Winter gets to be very long here in Alaska, and I’m feeling the slog of still having to layer on the clothes, be cold all the time, and the grays and browns of winter aren’t as pretty to look at as are the greens and color of spring and summer. We drove to Girdwood after I was done with work on Sunday evening, ate at Jack Sprat, checked into our hotel room, went to the pool/hot tub/sauna, and then channel surfed and were reminded why we don’t have cable and hardly ever watch TV. This week is pretty typical for me: coaching a couple of Raven Run Club sessions, working with my own athletes that I coach, working at the store on the weekend, getting Cullen outside for play time, and staying on top of the other typical life-things.
After our run, I got ready for church, and Craig, Cullen, and I attended our church service. We dropped Cullen off at my in-laws, and they took Cullen to the snow sculptures and carnival rides at Fur Rondy. Craig told me I could pick out a couple of things for my birthday, but of course when I have the chance to spend money, I never find anything–isn’t that how it always goes. After that we picked up Cullen from my in-law’s and then went to dinner at South Restaurant.
I don’t want a cake-y look to my foundation, but I also need it to even out my skin a little, which is why I like Beautycounter’s On Monday nights I have a few friends over for The Bachelor, and since many of them are my running friends, we end up eating a lot of items from Run Fast Fast Cook Fast Eat Slow cookbooks. I made the Thai Quinoa Salad from the Run Fast Cook Fast Eat
