Rental Kitchen Makeover: Week Two

Bonjour! (That's French for hello - we are bilingual in Canada, eh?) This is week 2 of the One Room Challenge where you have 6 weeks to makeover a space. I am a guest participant but there are 20 bloggers/influencers who are featured every Wednesday

Rental Kitchen Makeover : Week One

I've been on the fence about joining in the One Room Challenge and decided to throw in my hat again as a guest participant. Having made over my son's room into my sewing room last year on a tight budget,For those of you who don't know, the One Room Challenge is where you makeover a room in 6 weeks. Follow along as I add a bit of style to our lack lustre kitchen using shiplap, fabric, wall stencils and accessories. The blinds are being replaced by relaxed roman shades, just like the ones I did for my last One Room Challenge makeover.

Buying a Bed Frame on a Budget

In addition to researching the best mattress for your buck, I needed to find a bed frame that was budget friendly. After spending $1600 on a mattress at Sleep Country Canada, that left me $1400 for a bed frame. After browsing various websites I found the Mason bed at Crate and Barrel for just under $1000 Canadian with great reviews. Wanting to see the bed in person I called Crate and Barrel, our closest store is a 40 minute drive through heavy traffic, to see if it was in the store.

How I Embraced Grey Hair

Lately the chatter on Instagram and Facebook has been the frustration or lack of authenticity and the representation of us #perennial women. Jennifer from Rambling Renovators recently addressed this on her blog and Instagram . As a perennial myself, I find I can't relate to those airy blonde mothers with their perfectly coiffed locks, youthful skin and radiant children that flood my Instagram feed. My kids have flown the nest, I am nearing the dreaded 5-0 (only 47, but close enough in my books) AND I let my hair go grey 2 years ago.
