Life is short! Live, Travel and Repeat. We are a middle age married couple slow traveling through Europe and blogging about it all.
In this new episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing content creator Christian Reeve about his recent experience as an ex-pat in Estonia, and the culture shock of coming back home to London after his years away, a very fun chat that had us discussing acting among his many passions. Even though l knew it was a very popular destination, this was the first time l actually met someone who had lived and worked there, and not as a digital nomad, but as an employee of a brick and mortar company. I was, therefore, eager to interview Christian and find out about life in Estonia (since l am always curious, or nosy… haha!) especially when compared to England, his home, and a destination that most people, including yours truly, would give an arm (maybe not a leg anymore) to live in.
After what seems like a lifetime in which we were stuck in some time warp like in Groundhog Day, Valencia might actually be turning the corner. Two weeks ago, they loosened the reins just a bit, and allowed the restaurants to open until 6 pm, but only the ones with outside terraces, and there was a maximum number of 4 per table. Non-essential stores can open till 8 pm ( weird as you would think the restaurants would at least have matching hours.)No household mixing is still in effect, which kind of sucks as it stopped the bubble we had going. In the meantime, it’s a daily battle with her bugging me for food all the time, her watching the other’s food like a shark.
My never-ending quest to learn more Spanish led to the discovery of this bright and entertaining young man on YouTube where he has amassed almost 300,000 followers with his Spanish language channel. New York seemed to have a special pull for him when he visited as a seven year old, and he knew at that point in time that somehow he was going to make his way back there. What he loves about New York, his cost of living there, plus luck in finding a really big apartment through sheer luck. It’s not a surprise to me of course, we feel the same way about our little city, and even though the pandemic put a stop to our travels, we hope to be able to return to explore other parts of Spain, including Granada that l keep hearing about from friends here too.
For sure life as a third culture kid absolutely influenced Christin Hoag’s desire for a life of travel. She has posed as a nun to interview a prisoner, interviewed past presidents, and was even once, falsely accused of being a drug trafficker just to name a few dangerous situations. She has in addition worked for some major newspapers such as the Miami Herald and Associated Press, authored a few books, and has lived in over ten countries that l recall! You can purchase the books mentioned here through Amazon, or on her website: I really loved listening to some of Cristina’s life stories.
