Job profiles that attract indispensable talent

However, when you’re crystal clear on what you need done, it’s easier to market the role, attract qualified talent, and get the person you need. If it’s a new role, talk to the people who will interface with the new person most often—be sure you know their expectations and needs. Depending on the work you’re hiring for, you might have success metrics around quality of work, revenue and profits, time-to-completion, skills acquisition, or employee growth. So, when possible, instead of “requiring” people to have specific qualifications, focus on finding candidates who have experience in the kinds of responsibilities and skills you’ve outlined above.

This Women’s History Month, let’s make history

A lot has changed since last March—when the month set aside to celebrate women’s history kicked off a historically tough year for women in the workplace. Since last March (when the workplace effects of the pandemic started), 2.3 million women left the workplace. As a leader, be a pathfinder—inspire women (and everyone) to find a path where they’re successful at work and fulfilled in life. If we have the courage to challenge the status quo, the history books (and business textbooks) won’t talk about March 2021 as the anniversary of a year of loss.

Getting real about resilience with Salo’s Amy Langer

What I have seen that sets apart the good from the great salespeople over time is those who take the loss, pause to reflect, and then figure out how to pivot next time instead of beating themselves up. What’s your advice for people who don’t always feel resilient? I don’t think it would have been the same outcome for the organization, for me, or for her, if she had stayed the entire time. Over time, I’ve gotten better at not being drawn into the emotions others are having in the moment, and providing a perspective that they might not have while they are going through it.

Get to Know Seven Salo Lady Leaders

In honor of International Women’s Day, we asked seven women in key roles at Salo to tell us about their career journeys and share some advice for people starting out. What’s your advice for people just starting out? What’s your advice for people just starting out? My boss’s confidence in my decisions and direction in the project (which resulted in a successful implementation) is something I’ll reflect on when facing challenges my entire career.
