– Book Update –

Tessa’s Special Code was released out into the world. I never imagined that a simple YouTube video would quickly turn into a hard copy children’s book. After seven years, five reprints and many reader requests, 47 Strings is finally available as an e-book! Over the years, 47 Strings has been shared in homes, schools, organizations, welcome baskets, clinics and libraries across the United States and in various countries around the world.

Mine In The Middle

My middle is stuck between an older sister who has several different appointments throughout the year and more demanding developmental needs, and a younger one-year-old brother who constantly keeps us on our toes. Because life and time don’t always allow for everyone’s needs to be met on cue, she’s learning to be a little more patient I poured her a smoothie, turned on Pandora and set up a home spa; allowing her freedom to choose as many nail stickers and colors as she wished (including the glitter polishes that take three years to dry). It’s simplicity in a world that constantly tells us we need to do more in order to have happy kids.

The Last Firsts

At this time last year, I was preparing for our baby boy’s impending arrival. We have officially committed to the completion of our family, and the realization has set in that we will never again live out those beautiful first year milestones with a baby. The very last time I walked out of the hospital as a new mom, and the final moment we welcomed a brand new baby home. In an effort to shield my mama heart, I am trying to not dwell on the finalization of our baby years by welcoming gratitude for having them in the first place.

Yet

These are some of the concerns raised by a team member during this year’s annual IEP meeting as we prepare for third grade. We’ve had to challenge ourselves as parents to see beyond the fear and the worry in order to open more avenues of success. we can either settle or we can find a way; something we learned quickly after hearing that our daughter was born with Down syndrome. We’ve seen her jump hurdles higher than the ones you’ll find on an agility coarse, and those are the ones that matter the most to us.
