Stay Curious Darling is a Travel and Lifestyle Blog. It is my attempt to share what inspires me with the world and to give you a glimpse of the road less travelled. You don't have to live your life like everyone else. Be adventurous, be kind, be happy and leave the world a better place than you found it.
I am currently traveling throughout South America with my dog and my little van, photographing and capturing our journey. I believe in many things that have tangled together and define my way of looking at life. Being able to choose every morning how I want my day to look like, and just create that reality, is my way to achieve a long term, sustainable ever lasting happiness. I think that more and more people around the world are beginning to discover that they want to live a more simple way of life.
So when I had the chance to visit this city, I jumped at the opportunity to learn more about it’s history and see what life is like for the people who live there today. Hebron is significant to both Muslims and Jews because it is thought to be the burial place of Abraham and his wife Sarah, their son Isaac (and wife Rebecca) and Isaac’s son Jacob (and wife Leah). In late August 1929, disputes flared up between Muslims and Jews in Jerusalem over access to Temple Mount (it’s an extremely holy site to both religions). In 1997, after extensive negotiations and peace talks, it was decided (among many other decisions regarding Israel and Palestine) that Hebron would be split into two sections: H1, which would be controlled by the Palestinian Authority, and H2 under control of Israel (rather, the Israeli army).
There are a LOT of churches and mosques in Nazareth, so if you’re interested, most free maps (typically available from your accommodation) show the locations of notable churches, mosques, and synagogues, so grab one and start walking! The traditional site where Jesus turned water into wine Kibbutz Lavi – A traditional Jewish agricultural commune Horns of Hattin – Extinct volcano with spectacular views over the Galilee region Sea of Galilee and the Church of the Multiplication – Site commemorating where Jesus fed 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish The Mount of Beatitudes – Where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount Forests, wilderness, cultivated fields, panoramic views Back in Nazareth, I’m glad I had the opportunity to drop in on a free Arabic lesson at the Fauzi. They are offered a couple evenings a week and it goes a long way to be able to say even just a few words in Arabic when you are in cities like Nazareth, Haifa, Akko, and even the Jaffa neighbourhood of Tel Aviv.
