Now, I know that this law has been added under Sharia which means that it will target the Muslim majority of Brunei the most, but that doesn’t mean that the homophobic law and teachings that will result from this law will not have a trickle-down effect throughout the rest of Brunei’s society. We consumers can stop buying/using/sharing/photographing/going to/or staying at places where the owners, designers, corporate policies and investors are not upholding human rights/environmental standards/ corporate social responsibility/ are bad people/ do bad things/ support horrible policies etc. So, I ask you to join together and use our purchasing power, to 1) send a message to corporations that we are not here for their shit corporate policies regarding the environment, labour standards and environmental impact and 2) send a message to individuals who are against human rights, equal rights, and are overall proven bad people that they will no longer be able to profit from consumers so long as they continue. DO support local farmers markets and buy products grown in your province/state/territory/country DO take your outfit photos in beautiful places that support human rights and good environmental standards DO wear, promote and work with brands who have good ethics and morals DO support influencers who CHOOSE to support any of the above Do’s.
I have recently invested in a diffuser after both my roommates in 4th year spent the whole year raving about how good theirs were. I’ve taken the plunge and I’ve bought myself one of the Virtuvi Stone Diffusers from Sephora. My main motivations for buying a diffuser were to have it act as a mini humidifier and to help me sleep by filling my room with the smell of lavender. I also wanted to try out an alternative to burning candles.
By now, I’m sure all of you have heard about the college cheating scandal that is taking place in the United States and while I’m not surprised at it existing (I mean Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl did say something to the effect of if he was expelled from his prestigious private high school his parents would simply donate a new library to get him back in), I’m shocked at some of the frankly hateful commentary made against the whole influencer community. MANY MANY MANY MANY Influencers have Post- Secondary Degrees and didn’t plan on becoming influencers, it happened and instead of ignoring the success they found online in favour of something else they chased that dreams WHILE pursuing their degrees. So Olive Munn HIGH KEY sh*ting on being an influencer is her tearing down women and a predominately female industry. If she had gotten into USC BECAUSE she was an influencer, you could draw that conclusion, but in this situation, she’s a kid who’s parents bribed her way into USC who happens to be an influencer.
Spring is one week away and it’s time to switch your wardrobe over, hide your parkas and push the snow boots as far back into your closet as they can possibly go and (if you are Canadian you go straight for the summer wear cause we are hardcore like that) get your warm weather gear out. I’ve boiled down all the trends hitting the shelves this week to the ones that I’m getting behind for Spring 2019. This season I’m flooding my wardrobe with diffused blues, lilacs, blush pinks and frozen yellows. I’m especially looking at matched sets, to create monochromatic looks in these muted shades.
