How shopping sustainably helped me define my personal style

Instead of anxiously following the trends that the fast fashion industry spends billions of dollars convincing us we need to follow to be stylish, I’ve been able to focus on what’s most important to my own aesthetics and define my personal style on my own terms. I still love scrolling through fashion blogs and Instagram to see what people are wearing, but instead of buying things just to be on-trend, I try to think about how these trends fit into my personal style. I love the look I put together in this post because it embodies my personal style and my commitment to sustainable and ethical fashion. The wrap dress, a style that’s become quite trendy, stays true to my personal aesthetic with a timeless, clean silhouette and a funky ring detail that makes it understated yet bold.

Should I go organic (cotton, that is)? / Synergy Organic Clothing review

Organic cotton farming attempts to address the considerable environmental concerns with conventional cotton, including the industry’s consumption of water and usage of toxic pesticides and other chemicals. * Using less toxic pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides: Conventional cotton producers use an estimated 25% of the world’s insecticides and more than 10% of the world’s pesticides. Organic cotton production, on the other hand, may use pesticides, but they are generally considered to be safer than the ones used in conventional cotton farming. The bottom line: Although organic cotton is probably better for the environment and workers just based on the fact that less toxic pesticides are used, the claim that your cotton was organically grown isn’t going to absolve your T-shirt of all its environmental sins.

Happy six months! (with my IUD)

In part two, which I wrote three months after getting my IUD, I discussed the side effects I had experienced up to that point: a yeast infection, increase in acne, mild spotting on and off for a few months, and menstrual cramps. Luckily, I haven’t had any other yeast infections, my acne hasn’t completely disappeared but is much more manageable, and I’ve stopped spotting for many months now. As of now, I haven’t had cramps, spotting, or my period in at least a month. So far, the side effects haven’t been so bad that I’ve wanted to give up and get it removed, but it’s good to know that removal is a simple procedure (although you do need to go to the doctor’s office).

Remember those leggings I wouldn’t shut up about? They’re back, with sports bras! / Girlfriend Collective review

They’re launching their full line this summer with their internet-famous leggings and new sports bras in drool-worthy colors. As a C cup, I’ve had issues in the past with finding supportive sports bras, but this is supportive enough for medium intensity activities like jogging and maybe even high intensity activities (not that I do any…ha, ha). sizing: I am a 34C and usually a size S in sports bras, but I got a size S and the bottom elastic hem is way too loose for me so it fits more like a top than a sports bra. These leggings pretty much do everything you need leggings to do: They’re stretchy yet opaque and super soft yet supportive.
