Causeway Bay is a mecca for Japanese food. There is a whole street seemingly devoted to ramen, yet another teeming with Japanese dessert shops
I very well may have found my favorite sandwich in Wan Chai. I’ve always been partial to the Vietnamese banh mi
After walking up a couple flights of stairs, I arrived at this super cute doorway, which led me to 1963 Tree Taiwanese Restaurant. One thing I really enjoy about 1963 Tree Taiwanese Restaurant is that it really showcases unusual wild vegetables (sourced directly from Taiwan) that you can’t find as easily in Hong Kong. This cute little vintage Taiwanese restaurant tucked away in Wan Chai is a true hidden gem. I especially like how they offer more unusual ingredients that you don’t find in other Taiwanese restaurant in Hong Kong.
I really do love the numerous hiking trails in Hong Kong, and I’ve made an effort to start showing friends and family a different side of Hong Kong when they visit. When my mom came to visit me in Hong Kong last November, I purposely booked a dinner at Lamma Rainbow, a well-known seafood restaurant on Lamma Island that even provides free boat rides for its guests from Central (Pier 9) and Tsim Sha Tsui to Lamma Island. Like most seafood restaurants at fishing villages like Sok Kwu Wan, Lamma Rainbow has many tanks full of all different types of live seafood. It’s fun to hike around Lamma Island for the day, and we enjoyed having a small private boat take us to and from the restaurant (as opposed to getting in a long line to board the ferry back to Central after dinner).
