Jasmine, to be a part of her ‘Ciao for Now’ series on her blog where she interviews re-pats on their time spent in Italy. I recently returned to the states 5 months ago and have been slowly acclimating myself back to living in the U, S of A- although a completely different state now, so it still feels as if I’m in a different country sometimes. I’m a first generation Salvadorian-American raised in the south, also lived in Miami for 4 years before taking the leap abroad and spending almost 2 years in Italy. We also were English teachers in Italy and wanted to go back to working in our respective fields pre-Italy, which are marketing and finance.
But I realized, with quiet observation aside, that if I pay attention they can teach me a thing or two about self-care and distract me from this digitally obsessed life I live in. What children and pets teach us about self-care Get up and dance I think we can all agree that music is a form of therapy, but when was the last time you felt music move your body? Don’t think rest isn’t a form of self-care. What has children and pets taught you about self-care?
Tiffany Parks, the author of Midnight in the Piazza, is editor at Where Rome magazine and co-host of the podcast, The Bittersweet Life. Tiffany’s book, Midnight in the Piazza, was published on March 6, 2018. Beatrice, a lover of all things history, art, and Rome, couldn’t be in a better place to solve an art mystery after relocating there from Boston as her father received a position to work at the American Academy in Rome. The book has 32 chapters which are very short, considering it’s a children’s book, but each chapter is filled with just enough action and suspense to make you want to keeping reading another 2 or 3 chapters each time
Three years after traveling to Positano for the first time, we finally made it back and took a weekend trip there from Rome over the holiday weekend. * Both times we have gone to Positano, we have stayed in the same place and it was at Colle dell’ara, which we found through Airbnb (many of you were asking where I stayed during my time there). we were pretty lucky to have, what I think, was the best view of Positano since our Airbnb sat pretty high up atop the hill. * What I won’t do is state the obvious in separate points because it doesn’t do you or me any favors, but I will bunch them up all together here in case you are wondering what else this beach village has to offer: rent a boat, hire a paddleboard/kayak, explore other parts of the Amalfi coast if time permits (there are other neighboring towns here, not just Positano), or drive a car or scooter (if you’re feeling brave).
