Midlifechic is a UK blog about ageless style and all other issues relating to the challenging… and yet exciting time that is midlife.
I know I don’t usually post on a Thursday but my schedule’s a bit topsy turvy at the moment. I have some heavy marketing projects that are keeping me busy and given that we’re running a business in the shadow of Brexit (or are we?) I’m not complaining! I’m also halfway through reading all of the feedback to the reader survey so in addition to feeling buoyed by lots of heart-lifting comments (thank you so much), I have some conflicting and confusing points to digest
The sun is shining, in fact the tabloids are calling it the Moroccan Melt so to everyone who asked me to bring the weather back with me from Marrakech, you’re welcome! It means that for once, the new Spring collections that are arriving feel timely. It’s usually hard to imagine spring in February but this week retail sales have been booming as everyone casts off their winter layers
However I think losing track is probably something that we all do, particularly in this age of Instagram when we’re bombarded by women who we feel we know, apparently wearing something new every day. Of course our lives, styles and sizes change so the solution to a core wardrobe doesn’t often lie in recreating what you were wearing circa 1989 but for me, that confident time impacts my style today. Ok, I’m not going to keep on talking today because I don’t want to distract you – instead I’ll leave you to do your wardrobe reality check. Now obviously don’t panic, we’re not going to be paring everything back to the absolute bones, the choice of only one top for a night out would be a bit grim (although a true capsule wardrobe would work that way).
… and the general high jinx began – here’s the middle one creating his Christmas Day Instagram post (don’t ask! ). So I’m afraid I don’t have any more photos of Christmas because we decided that we’d just focus on what mattered. It meant we had a real break because it’s the first time for five years that we haven’t had to factor outfit photos into our week but I did wear them a lot when we weren’t travelling to see Mr MC’s mum!
