If I didn’t have my own car, I would have chosen a private tour from Kalabaka to see the rocks in the sunset, during the golden hour, or this 5 hour hiking tour of Meteora. You’ll travel by train by yourself, meet the guide and the other members of your group in the Kalabaka train station, and get on a luxury minibus for a 3.5-hour tour of the Meteora Monasteries. If you want to take a bus to Meteora, you need to take the Metro (Green Line) to Kato Patissia station. As most trains from Thessaloniki to Kalambaka switch at Palaeofarsalos, you’ll need to stay tuned until you pass this point Also, the return train timetable in advance, so that you can plan your visit to the monasteries.
The beach is located on the Akrotiri peninsula, 2km east from Chordaki and 22km northeast from Chania Town, on a very good but narrow asphalt road. When I went to Seitan Limania, I had no idea what I was going to find here. You can get to Menies in any type of car (very low ones aren’t suitable, though), but I’d suggest you rent an off-road vehicle. Funny enough, as I was laying on my sunbed, face down, I raised my head and I all I saw for one moment was the darkest place of a guy changing his underwear.
The biggest challenge of visiting an island for the first time is to choose the resort or the village to stay in. The island of Corfu, or Kerkira, makes no exception; there are many villages that look fabulous. Barbati Corfu is a lovely village located 20 km northeast from Corfu Town and from the airport. Besides, by choosing a hotel or a villa in Barbati, you’d be close to Corfu Town, Pantokrator, Dassia, Sidari, and Achilleion.
It is at 25 km distance from Athens City center, 7 km north from Rafina, and 8 km south from Marathon. You can take the X95 express bus or the metro to get to Athens, and then take a regular Ktel bus to Marathon or Grammatiko. As Rafina is only 7 km away from Nea Makri, a taxi ride would probably cost you around 15 Euro. If you land on the Athens airport late evening, you may only have the taxi option, as not all of these buses run by night time.
