I don’t know if it’s because a lot of you are planning a vacation, if you are just sick of the snow and dreaming of beach days, or if you are super organized and already planning for this summer, but I have been getting a lot of questions about our beach “must-haves”. It has also given me a list of “approved” beach gear, that I know can withstand the sun and two busy kids. To be able to properly pack all the beach gear that our family of four could need for a beach day, we need to start with a giant beach bag. I don’t keep these in my beach bag per se, but they are in our beach essentials.
There isn’t much I can tell you about “the sites” on our Argentina trip that you wouldn’t be able to find on 100 other travel blogs, so no need for the day-by-day playback. The only times Eben and I have snuck away for an overnight were 1) a three-day trip to Las Vegas for Eben’s birthday. We actually got lost twice on one hike which had us scrambling through some pretty hard terrain that I would not have wanted to do with the girls. I mean we hang out daily and have lots of alone time together (while the girls are at school or in bed for the night), but on this trip it felt like we were back in our dating days, just him and I.
But that’s when I’m on “mom time I’ve continued to workout daily, but a lot of that is so that I don’t feel like I’ve done nothing all day. Outside of working out, my “me” time (ie nap time and when the girls are in bed for the night) has involved me sitting in my pj’s catching up on Grey’s It seems that every time Eben was away I found a different way to keep sane.
People think that travel is about getting on flights, going to places with foreign languages, that have different customs, exotic food, and a different climate. There’s something fun about playing tourist in your own area; learning about the fun things your area has to offer, and realizing that there’s always more to discover. There are a bunch of different restaurant and food options in our town, so trying out a new restaurant is always fun. Even while travelling to new countries, sometimes you discover that a certain activity is not for you, that the hike was too long, that the festivities weren’t as cool as you had expected, or that your kids really weren’t “feeling it
