When those thoughts come to mind, I think “maybe I just need a little self-care” to feel better. Lately, I feel like my self-care might take over when I should be doing something productive (like getting a nursery together). Sometimes my morning is my self-care (after the kids are gone to school, Sam is gone to work, and it is just me and the dogs at home). Chores can be a way for me to feel good and productive (which may sound silly), but it helps contribute on days when I feel like I don’t want to do much.
This Thursday at the Marion, IL VA Medical Center Behavioral Health Building there will be a ceremony honoring Veterans from the Vietnam era. From 10:00 a.m. to Noon on March 28 (Thursday), there will be a Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. A small ceremony will be held from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. followed by a meet and greet session that will run until noon at the Behavioral Health Building. While these Veterans may not often feel thankful or that their service meant something, this ceremony is one way to remind these Veterans that they are welcomed home, honored, loved, and appreciated.
