You guys gave me such great feedback on the first post in this series (my mom’s gorgeous condo) and I’m excited to showcase even more spaces to you every month. You’re already familiar with the home I’m showcasing today (although there are a few rooms I’ve never shown! ), but starting next month I’m revealing brand new spaces from readers. Let’s dive into this contemporary condo in Chicago, room-by-room. It’s a great little spot to style and display pretty objects, plus I love the light wood color.
It’s not because I don’t like him (he is great), but it’s because I’m nervous that something is going wrong at the house. Ever since we walked into this home for the first time, I knew that I wanted to remove lots of the walls in the front room to make a larger living room. My contractor added a large beam in the living room to support the second floor with those walls down. We decided to move the laundry room wall out a few feet so we didn’t have a dead zone between the wall and the railing.
After using our power washer at the new house multiple times over the last few weeks, I’ve realized how amazing this little tool is and I’m pretty sure power washing is my new favorite household chore. Our condo building did spring cleaning every year and Finn and I would always volunteer to rent a power washer to clean up the sidewalks and back area. A power washer is not terribly expensive and you’ll get a lot of use out of it (from cleaning your patio furniture each year, to giving your garbage cans a good clean, to cleaning dirty sidewalk and siding). While I’ve mostly spent my time power washing sidewalks and porches, I also used ours to clean off the siding on our garage and the garage door.
It’s been a little while since we chatted about my mom’s master bathroom, but I’m already back here to bring you the big master bathroom reveal! ! Not wanting to rip everything out and start from scratch, we decided that we’d refresh the main area with a new sink, faucet, lighting, and mirror from Lowe’s Home Improvement, along with an antique dresser from a local shop. My mom wasn’t in love with her floor tile, but because we were just doing a refresh we didn’t want to rip it all out. My favorite part about this entire project is that we used lots of budget-friendly items from Lowe’s, yet it still looks like a designer space!
