Welcome to Honey and Dates, your source for healthy and halal living!
Maash ki daal, sprinkled with fresh lemon juice, garam masala, and a whole green chili pepper to eat with each bite just like my dad used to. This is one of those daal’s (lentils) that need to be cooked al dente, because if you cook it just a little too long then it becomes mush, and I don’t like that. Wash daal well and soak for at least 30 minutes Chop onions and sauté in some oil until golden brown Add chopped tomatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes on medium high until tomatoes and soft Cover and cook on medium low for about 15-20 minutes Add this to daal Sprinkle lemon and garam masala over it.
It was 6:35 in the evening, my oldest yelled from upstairs that she was starving, so I stood in front of the fridge looking at all the hodge podge of things we had wondering what I could cook with all those different ingredients. But then I got even more lazier and realized I didn’t actually want to cook a meal, but I did want to use up some ingredients in the fridge before they go bad. And you don’t have to drive yourself crazy cooking a warm meal every night – sometimes it’s ok to feed your family a bunch of different things straight from the fridge ‘til you satisfy your tummy!
I threw this recipe together because I’m trying to eat healthier, and I’m sick of spending close to $20 on a teeny tiny bowl of healthy veggies. If I’m being completely honest, these types of salad bowls are so ridiculously easy to make at home, cost a fraction, and are WAY more tastier! Just grab a bunch of healthy, super-foods from your kitchen, toss them together with some dressing and protein, and your on your way to eating like someone who works at Goop! If you don’t know where to start or what to add, then follow the recipe below.
Instead of making two different Masjids and having my girls fight over who gets to punch each night, I decided to make 60 holes so they can each do one every night. The holes are different sizes mostly because I got different sizes of cups from Dollar Tree and didn’t want to waste them. Here’s what you will need: * 30 cups in sizes of your choice Start out by deciding how you want your Masjid to look like. I used different colors of tissue paper on different areas of the Masjid and tried to incorporate #purpleramadan.
