NOLA: What I Wore

I just returned from my trip to New Orleans! I’ve been live blogging all my photo adventures throughout the week but wanted to wait until I got home to update this little dude. I packed all different types of clothes for this trip because one, it was really cold when I left Baltimore and two, the weather predictions were all over the place. If you live there year-round, you’re lucky.

New Obsession: LUSH Face Masks

So far I have tried two masks, the Mask of Magnaminty, which is a deep cleanser of China clay and fresh peppermint that exfoliates your face, and Catastrophe Cosmetic which is a fresh blueberry clay mask that needs to be refrigerated. Mask of Magnaminty isn’t technically a daily ‘facial wash’; it’s actually a deep cleansing face and back mask. In the past few weeks since doing a routine face mask after taking off my makeup, I’ve noticed huge improvements in my skin’s texture, color and the scar that has occasional sensitivity issues is now almost non-existent. My sensitive skin can’t handle a lot of the drugstore brand masks and the kind that it can handle isn’t much cheaper than the LUSH versions.

Benefit Makeup: Yes & No

I’m a simple person when it comes to this stuff, however, that doesn’t mean I don’t know good quality when I see it. Benefit has two that I have tried: a pink glow called “High Beam” that comes in what looks like a nail polish jar and a bronze glow called “Watts Up It’s not too shiny and reflects like light much like a pearl would. It looks like regular mascara to me once it’s on and clumped a tiny bit.

Hiatus is O-V-E-R

Last June I took some time off from style blogging to concentrate on my photojournalism career and summer traveling. I’ve been steadily blogging on my main photo blog, 120Pearls, but I realized something was missing in my life and that was this little baby of a blog I started last February, an entire year ago from today. I’ve always been a woman who appreciates the style of others especially when it’s reflected in makeup, clothing, and overall demeanor. The journalism industry is rough these days and sometimes it helps to calm my woes with a bit of retail therapy, makeup experiments and of course, writing and photographing things that interest me.
