As promised, here is Part 2 of the series where I try to make art I saw on Anthropologie’s website. Like I mentioned in Part 1, which featured a blue Shibori-style watercolor piece, I am in no way trying to disrespect the artists. And for those of us who can’t spend hundreds on wall art (millennial problems, much? ), it’s a cool way to change up your space. Make sure you let each part dry before attempting to do another that touches it, since we don’t want the colors to bleed together.
So I’ve recently been getting back into watercolors, partly due to having some free time and partly because I got a new watercolor set from a friend for my birthday. The new ones are a lot more pigmented, which makes for better works, and that’s when I got the idea for this post. And I wouldn’t if they were an affordable price, but when they’re each over a hundred a piece, I think it’s justified in a way. This is the piece I will attempt to recreate in this post: It’s called Ivory Mat Shibori Wall Art and retails for $398 at Anthropologie.
For my final Halloween post on the holiday’s eve, I’ve got a Halloween playlist for you. And there are some songs in there that are from my music library that aren’t usually included in Halloween playlists but are spooky. That’s one thing I didn’t want to compromise on: all of the songs in the playlist are ones that I actually like and want to listen to. Unfortunately, the embed feature isn’t working, so I’ll just have to provide the link to the Spotify playlist I’ve made:
The Addams Family Values (1993) is everyone’s favorite movie featuring the macabre family. The Conjuring universe alone includes enough movies for a Halloween marathon, some better than others. The Saw franchise (2004-2017) isn’t for the faint of heart, but the psychology behind the gore is very interesting and makes for great movies, if you can stand the never-ending blood and torture. It (2017) wasn’t necessarily my favorite movie when I saw it, but it wasn’t Halloween at the time
