3 Important COVID-19 Safety Resources for Reopening your Facility

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued guidelines for businesses and employers to help protect their workforce against the spread of COVID-19, as well as prepare their facilities to be a safer work environment. Check your state’s Occupational Health and Safety Division (OSHA) website to learn about what temporary rulings may be in place for businesses and facilities. Understand the Advantages to Workplace Testing for COVID-19 Testing for COVID-19 in the workplace can aid in protecting the health and safety of your employees as well as providing peace of mind. G2 Consulting offers many services to get your facility back up and running, as well as educating your workforce on how to protect themselves and each other, including facility start up services, risk management planning and employee safety programs.

Four Important Indicators of Air Quality in Indoor Facilities

When G2 Consultants performed an indoor environmental quality assessment for a medical facility in Oregon, we paid particular attention to the following four indicators to provide important insight into whether the air was safe for the facility’s occupants. The levels turned out to be below the the permissible exposure limit mandated by the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (OR-OSHA), the recommended limit established by the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and other professional consensus organizations. G2 performed direct-read measurements of airborne particulate concentrations in the medical facility’s operating rooms, and found the concentrations to be lower than the limits recommended by both the ASHRAE and the EPA. When G2 tested the humidity levels within the three operating rooms, all were found to be below the recommended upper limit published by the ASHRAE, as well as below the industry standard recommended range.

New COVID-19 requirement updates for Oregon workplaces

With the resurgence of COVID-19 infections across the state, the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA) has adopted a temporary rule to address COVID-19 risks in the workplace. All employers must establish and implement an infection control plan based on the risks identified in their exposure risk assessment, including but not limited to: In addition to the employee information and training requirements for all workplaces, employers at workplaces at exceptional risk must provide employees with infection control training by no later than December 21, 2020. G2 provides a wide range of COVID-19 services–including infection control planning, infection control training, and exposure risk assessments–to ensure your workplace is in compliance with Oregon OSHA

Keeping Employees Safe: Industrial Hygiene Assessment for Semiconductor Facility

G2 is often retained for Industrial Hygiene Assessments to help facilities identify potentially hazardous conditions, as well as to assist with compliance and applicable health and safety standards. One of G2’s Certified Industrial Hygienists performed one such assessment at a semiconductor fabrication facility to address concerns about their employees’ exposure to cleaning chemicals during routine maintenance procedures. The semiconductor fabrication industry uses either a dry etching or wet etching process to remove material and create recesses on semiconductor surfaces. Over the 30-minute cleaning process (during which the employee wore the proper personal protective equipment), G2 monitored the employee’s personal breathing zone to determine the level of exposure to the chemical.
