Russian Pointe is a premier, global brand of dance products. Founded in 1998 and based in Chicago, the company is known for consistent innovation, the highest quality of materials and crafting, & outstanding responsiveness to the needs & of its customers.
RP is dedicated to empowering all types of women; women who own businesses, women entrepreneurs, women who dance, and so many others. In order to empower RP dancers, we interviewed one of our highly esteemed RP Teachers, Cory-Jeanne M. Houck-Cox. What I embrace and celebrate about the new RP EMPOWERED Leotard Collection are the vibrant names given to each leotard as well as the new colors that represent springing into the new year, 2019. Cory-Jeanne began her ballet training in New Mexico with Mariko, Suzanne Johnston, followed by international medalists Soili Arvola & Leo Ahonen.
We would like to recognize our RP Dancers & RP Artists who competed at YAGP in January & February! Kara Nelson @livelovedance_2003 – (Houston, TX) Had an amazing experience at my first YAGP ever!
In order to provide the best advice on competition prep, we consulted with three of our highly esteemed RP Teachers: Alexei Kremnev, Anna Reznik, and Stephanie Murrish. Reznik and Kremnev say it is important to “have a couple of dress run throughs before the competition so all elements (costume, make-up, music, shoes, tights) are in place Before founding A&A Ballet in Chicago, Anna Reznik and her husband, Bolshoi graduate Alexei Kremnev, were founding artistic directors of Joffrey Ballet’s Academy and Studio Company. A graduate of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Ms. Reznik toured throughout the world as a Principal Artist with the Moscow Festival Ballet (later the Russian National Ballet), England’s Northern Ballet Theatre, Cincinnati Ballet, BalletMet, Tulsa Ballet Theatre, as well as in the galas with the Bolshoi, Russian and European Stars of the Ballet, often performing alongside her award-winning husband.
Russian Pointe talked with dance specialist Dr. Lisa M. Schoene to learn more about the hows and whys of this wonderful tool. Dr. Schoene explains that properly applied kinesiology tape can help ease pain, prevent muscle fatigue, restore muscle function, maintain alignment, and reduce swelling or bruising. Dr. Schoene explains that it won’t hurt a dancer or other athlete to use the tape as if it were athletic tape, but it’s much more effective (and cost effective) to use each kind of tape for the purpose for which it was designed. In addition to working with clientele including The Joffrey Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance and many other companies, studios and athletic teams, Dr. Schoene is a prolific writer, teacher and lecturer on sports and dance medicine.
