Apps for Smart Kids: Book Towers, Juggling Teacher

What I like about this game is the way it helps kids learn to plan, sequence and think. The visual number and size sequencing is reinforced in this game and is an added bonus for my younger students who need these skills. It is easy for me to use this app with multiple students of varied ages because you can go back to replay any level desired. Like many apps, you can earn 1, 2 or 3 stars for how quickly you solve the level.

Fine Motor Skills: Please Let your Child Use Scissors

Generally, if your child is able to cut on lines to cut out a shape, they are well prepared and won’t need to practice cutting skills. For lots of cutting fun try edging scissors like School Smart or Polaroid, my kids love snipping with these! Try something like this: First cut the curvy red line and then cut the blue zig-zag line. I tried to teach him, the scissors were too big If any of these reasons sound familiar, get some kid friendly scissors and let your child start snipping today!

Zucchini Loaf Cake: Healthy Baking

This cake also makes a tasty dessert by topping it off with cream cheese frosting. Rather than deter my kids from trying this delicious loaf, I call it cinnamon nut loaf. This makes a nice cake for cutting into smaller pieces when feeding a crowd. This makes a nice cake for cutting into smaller pieces when feeding a crowd.

App Recommendation: 7 Little Words for Kids

This literacy app is jam packed with skill building and the kids like it so much they don’t even notice that they are learning! This word game is very motivational, I can use this app as an opener or a closer to my resource room sessions. The original 7 Little Words app is great to play as a group; my students love learning new grown up words. I use apps in my classroom to keep my kids engaged, inspire them to finish classwork quickly and to complete challenge activities.
