come order tacos with me! ✨ we went to a restaurant in Aspen, that didn’t have a gluten-free menu. But, after years of practice I knew I could make it work! This is how I ordered my tacos and communicated my celiac disease (it’s a little different each time). A few things: ✔️ looking at yelp I say that the shrimp wasn’t breaded, so that wasn’t a concern. ✔️ I saw the order come out next to me - it was clearly plain white rice. if it was Spanish rice with more seasonings, I would have asked more questions ✔️ I state “I have a gluten allergy” casually a few times, this helps notify the server and staff ✔️before this I asked questions about a shared fryer, so I had an idea the server had SOME awareness of cross-contact based on his answer. Otherwise; I may have insisted the tortillas weren’t heated up at all (to totally eliminate CC risk). What’s the hardest food item for you to order out?? 😍
YOU DON’T NEED GLUTENZYME & GLUTEN DIGEST, These supplements *may* help someone who has a gluten intolerance, but they are not designed to support someone with celiac. They are not going to help you reduce cross-contact, or decrease the risks of damage. ⚠️ Unfortunately, there is NO pill that will break down gluten or stop the autoimmune response. *of course - if you want to take them, go for it! it doesn’t hurt!
