Once the oldest olive mill in Eastern Liguria, Casale Amati Country House began welcoming guests twenty years ago when husband and wife, Manuela and Roberto, decided it was simply too large to maintain as a family home. It’s like being on the set of 90s Richard Gere movie; one where you wish you were the co-star. We stayed on the other side of the mill in La Marchesa, the once three-bedroom summer home of the Marchioness Eloisa Ingolotti, Federica’s great-grandmother. Each part of the house has its own section, continuing on the tradition of alfresco family meals and sunning among the olive trees that the Ingolotti Marquis family began all those years ago. Often seen on her patio (or on Casale Amati’s Instagram account as a guest at a family meal), Rina grew up with the Ingolotti Marquises and now welcomes guests in absence of Federica.

I looked at her confused and then we shared a small, grateful giggle as my hands wrapped around a squished purple bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk. The three finalists will visit Cadbury’s home in Bournville and work with the best chocolate experts to make their creations a reality. With that said, I’m thoroughly enjoying London in the sunshine when it doesn’t require a stuffy underground journey – reading in the park, walks along the river and a cold drink in the sun. Well this summer the snow’s been replaced with parasols, Christmas trees with fairy lit floral walls and the mulled cider with Rekorderlig’s newest range of innovative flavours.
