I've had a lot going on lately and when I have time I will write an update post; for now I have a very small poem to share with you. This is quite significant for me because I haven't actually written creatively in many, many years nor have I written any more poetry since finishing university 5-6 years ago. The reason this poem is significant is because I could usually only write when I was angry or depressed and that would also usually be the subject area of the writing itself, this poem however wasn't wrote in anger or rage, simply a calm and relaxed mood; something I have never been capable of...until now that is. I want time to slow as colour drifts off of the page, The colours are my clarity, the brush my personal Sage.
Using essential oils (EO's) in a burner isn't as effective for aromatherapy as a diffuser, because a burner does exactly as it says, burning off the oil and its helpful properties in the process Good quality oils can be used for a lot more than aromatherapy, such as making beauty, skincare and cleaning products, warding off insects, being used topically and they can even be used in food & drink (depending on the oil quality of course, please don't ingest oils unless they are 100% pure and you know the correct dosage! ) If you want to mix an EO to use topically then coconut oil is one of the best things to use as a carrier oil and it's also great for oil pulling; you can even add a drop of your favourite essential oil into your pulling routine 100% naturally sourced oils absorb much more quickly into the blood stream and have a highly detoxing effect EO's are rigorously tested and a common issue includes Cassia oil being passed off as Cinnamon oil due to the fact that their chemical structure is identical unless analysed further Putting EO's onto your pulse points is a great way to get the most benefit out of your oil as it absorbs into your bloodstream for quicker effectiveness I'm such a huge fan of using essential oils for a variety of things and they're also a great help in moving towards a more eco-friendly & chemical-free lifestyle; I want to keep learning and growing as much as I can whilst walking a more natural path.
Making The Most of Bedtime // Health & Wellbeing Recently a company called Leesa - who produce foam mattresses that are specially designed in order to give you the best quality sleep possible - got in touch with me asking if I'd like to get involved with an idea surrounding sleep goals, where you share your tips on how to get a good nights sleep. My tips are of course subjective and have built up from over 10 years of learning about what actually works for me; everyone is different and it's good to find what works for you, don't be disheartened if someone else's tips aren't quite the right fit for yourself. I'm definitely a sucker for a good pillow spray, my favourites include Miaroma's Lavender Sleep Mist and Avon's Lavender & Chamomile Sleep Serenity Mist. I try to take any evening medication at least an hour before bed as I don't want my body processing it whilst I'm trying to sleep and keeping me up in the meantime; with painkillers this also gives them time to kick in so that falling asleep is
I'm proud that I've managed to fight through most things and find balance between blogging and my reality, posting weekly for a significant amount of time; things are now so overwhelming though that I have little headspace for blogging and engaging with others. Naturally I hate this, it's so frustrating to once again feel like I'm isolating myself but my anxiety has been through the roof lately and I am finding it hard to be around others. College is much busier now it's final year and time to do our research projects, but I'm also playing catch up on other pieces of work Because of this I've decided that I'm going to take any pressure off myself and go back to blogging when I have time/when I feel like it so as not to jeopardise my college work; I'm a classic case when it comes to finding ways of procrastinating.
