Here’s a great article from Brett McIntyre from The Staffing Stream where he examines the top trends for 2016 that continue into 2017. According to Staffing Industry Analysts projections, “Healthcare staffing services will desperately need workers through 2016. In a nutshell, the top 2016 medical staffing trends to look out for are the following: 1. This is because as more aged people demand health services, these skills will be key in providing patients with the kind of care they demand (and deserve).
That’s why he ditched his company’s old corporate structure; it’s why he offers new hires $2,000 to leave the company; and it’s why he practices the policy of hiring slowly and firing quickly. Out of more than 6,000 hiring professionals worldwide, more than half said they have felt the effects of hiring someone who turned out to be a poor fit for the job or who did not perform it well. Twenty-seven percent of the U. S. employers surveyed said that just one of these bad hires cost their company more than $50,000. When you add up missed sales opportunities, strained client and employee relations, potential legal issues, and resources to hire and train candidates, the cost can be considerable,” says CareerBuilder CEO Matt Ferguson.
It’s true that whether you call them staffing firms, employment agencies, staffing agencies, recruiters or search firms, they all fulfill the same basic function: They find job candidates for client firms. To connect with top candidates, you’ll need a staffing firm that’s been in business long enough to develop rapport with and respect from top businesses and leaders in your industry. So, when choosing an agency, be sure to ask how many potential candidates the staffing firm expects to find for your vacancy and what process its recruiters will use to select the best options for your shortlist. If the numbers don’t sound promising (or seem unreasonably optimistic) or the staffing firm doesn’t have enough knowledge of your industry to identify top candidates, go somewhere else.
While this means different things to different people, Harvard Business Review’s Empathy Index includes these categories in its company ranking: ethics, leadership, organizational culture, brand perception and public messaging through social media. Just like virtual work has become typical in recent years (according to GlobalWorkplaceAnalytics.com, 50 percent of the US workforce holds a job that is compatible with at least partial telework and 80 to 90 percent of the US workforce says they would like to telework at least part time.), a workforce that combines full-time employees, part-time employees, temporary workers, contractors and freelancers will be commonplace. Maybe a small firm doesn’t need a full-time copywriter on staff but could leverage a freelancer’s skills, or maybe a sales staff that works part-time ensures the team doesn’t burn out. These technologies can provide candidates a real day-in-the-life look at their potential job, allowing them and you to make more informed employment decisions, or take training to the next level, giving employees on-the-job training before actually being on the job.
