Some routines are easier to get back into like classes, spending time with friends and my faith journey. During my break, I started reading again for pleasure and recently finished a book by Maya Angelou called Wouldn’t take nothing for my journey now. Getting back into a routine can be difficult so apart from an accountability partner it is important to take one day at a time. Routines are meant to help us throughout our life journey, if something isn’t working don’t be afraid to adjust your routine.
During the seasons of giving, there is external pressure to buy the “perfect” gift for a loved one or to say yes to multiple social gatherings. It is important to dedicate a day to rest, a day to reflect on the upcoming week and a day to re-charge. In my Christian faith, a day of rest is known as Sabbath and I admit that I am guilty of not taking this day as seriously as I should. In addition, let me know your thoughts on this Tea Talk as well as my previous Tea Talk posts located here and here.
On another note, I participated in Black Friday shopping for the first time with my family. I probably won’t participate in Black Friday shopping again, the crowds weren’t too bad but the traffic was crazy. There’s nothing wrong with participating in Black Friday, but it’s important to examine your motives for going. There’s so much division in every community, the problem is we waste time focusing on the wrong things at the expense of focusing on the right things.
Letting go does not mean that you forget that person or idea, it means you are relinquishing control from the hold that the idea or person had on you. The first step in letting go is realizing that the idea or person you are holding onto isn’t beneficial for us and serves as a hindrance from us moving forward. Letting Go is a constant process and God makes sure that we aren’t alone in this process. Letting go grants you freedom from distractions, freedom from opinions of others that have weighed you down, freedom from ideas the world tells you is necessary and freedom from additional stress and burdens holding on brings.
