Once the lister acknowledges your gift in the comments, please try to send your gift within a few days of your communication—the listers will be eagerly awaiting your generous gift!

I’d rather my kids get three holiday gifts and your kids get three holiday gifts, than my kids get six gifts and your kids get none. For example, please indicate whether you are going to satisfy all the needs listed (up to $100), or whether you are going to fund a portion of request (for example, “I can provide the train your child wants” or “I can provide a $30 gift card toward your needs”). In fact, Together Rising is meeting the needs of 31 families in addition to the ones you see listed by sending $100 gift checks to use toward groceries and basic needs. We continue receiving and filling requests for holiday needs through mid-December – and we fill the needs of families all year long – so please consider making a one-time or monthly donation to help us continue to spread the love this holiday season.

Today is the Holiday Hands day for folks who need a little extra to post their needs. If you have a little extra to give this year or know some folks who do, pleasepleaseplease mark your calendar to meet us back here on TUESDAY, As we begin our Eighth Holiday Hands, a love project that has made the holidays brighter for more than 4,000 families, I’m thinking back to how it started that day in 2011: I was watching a news story about the economy recently and there were many families talking about how they were going to have a hard time buying gifts for their children this year. I’d rather my kids have three holiday gifts and your kids have three holiday gifts, than my kids have six gifts and your kids have no gifts.

On #BlackFridays, we take action where we live, exit our workplaces and schools, and disrupt business as usual to build power that transforms our society. Last week thousands of women joined in the first #BlackFridays action – it’s time to escalate! Study after study shows that the most effective way to get people to vote is by having conversations with them in the four days before Election Day (Saturday, November 3rd–Tuesday, November 6th). It’s when we remind voters to get to the polls and make sure as many people as possible have their voice heard at the ballot box this year.
