I’m Suzanne and I share my best advice on over 40 makeup and skincare. My mission: to empower women to look and feel simply beautiful.
The problem isn’t that we don’t feel grateful or want to practice gratitude; the issue is usually that we’re short on time and starting a full-blown gratitude practice sounds like (and can be! ) My little gratitude practice involves three simple steps: Smiling, reflecting on what went well yesterday, and identifying something I’m grateful for today. I’m usually pretty good about finding something to be grateful for, but if I get stuck here and/or if I’m not feeling particularly grateful that morning, I make a wish to be grateful. Whether you are looking to start a gratitude practice or change up your existing practice, I hope my morning gratitude exercise and the accompanying worksheet is helpful for you!
As I always say, you don’t have to spend a fortune to get good makeup brushes, but yet there is just something so…luxurious…about higher-end brushes. This is one of the IT Brushes For Ulta, and it is huge, fluffy, and applies powder over foundation perfectly. I try to wash my eye makeup brushes after every use, as I have very sensitive eyes and it’s my goal to never have another eye infection – ever. This brush by IT Brushes for Ulta makes it hard on me because I want to use this brush every single day.
I have 11 items that were (and still are, on the occasion when I travel nowadays) at the top of my list for travel and are my travel beauty essentials. I recommend this hairspray for travel not only because it is a good hairspray, but because it is in aerosol form, which I think is better for travel than the spray-pump travel hairsprays (which always, and I mean ALWAYS, leak). The Cococare 100% Cocoa Butter Stick is one of my favorite beauty travel products and has saved me from the inevitable on-the-road dryness that comes with travel I used to carry liquid eye makeup remover with me, just out of habit, but finally realized that I could save loads of space in my liquids bag by carrying makeup wipes instead.
It’s easy to look in the mirror, notice that you don’t look quite like you used to, and tell yourself that you’re getting over the hill and don’t look as good as you once did. Once you’ve caught yourself in the act of negative self talk, pause and ask yourself two simple questions about whatever thought it is that you’re having: If the answer to either of these questions is no, then tell yourself you’re going to let that thought go. The important thing about asking these two questions is to consciously remind yourself that what you are thinking (the negative statement) isn’t healing and doesn’t serve you in any way. You don’t have to tell yourself something that isn’t true, and in fact you shouldn’t give yourself a false pep talk.
