Butterfly Effects is one of the nation's leading providers of community-based ABA therapy services for individuals with autism and other related disorders.
This treatment plan will be tailored according to the learner’s history, preferences, interests, needs, current skills, skill deficits, maladaptive behaviors, and include socially significant goals that are important to the learner and the family. The treatment plan is then implemented by the Behavior Technician/Registered Behavior Technician (BT/RBT) with close treatment protocol modification and support from the assigned BCBA. During ABA sessions, the BT/RBT will use a variety of evidence-based strategies to teach the learner through Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Natural Environment Training (NET), or more likely a combination of both. The BCBA regularly meets with the family to review progress, adjust goals as needed, and for caregiver training to assist in implementation of the treatment plan.
ABA is used to increase behaviors, maintain behaviors, generalize behaviors from one environment to another, and reduce interfering behaviors. For example, a child may be required to be toilet trained to attend school, so not only will toilet training your child increase his or her independence, it will also increase the likelihood that they will be able to access the school environment in this scenario. For example, if a family engages in family dinners on Sunday nights for approximately 30 minutes and the client is currently only able to sit for 2 minutes before attempting to leave the table, the staff at Butterfly Effects may work on increasing his or her ability to sit gradually, because being able to sit at the table is a prerequisite for attending family dinner on Sunday nights. Butterfly Effects will work to increase your child’s communication, social skills, play skills, daily living skills, adaptive/coping skills, and reduce interfering behaviors.
We can help you create an ABA therapy plan and an environment that will help your child and your family achieve the specific goals and priorities you have in mind. After attaining your insurance information, we will confirm your healthcare coverage for ABA therapy, and then schedule an assessment with your family. This is why we provide open and honest communication about your child’s progress throughout ABA therapy. Periodic assessments, observations, and parent interviews are an important part of the ABA program and ensure that your child’s treatment is successful.
Your child’s “spotlight” includes your child’s interests and preferences (a highly preferred toy or a highly preferred activity). By focusing on your child’s “spotlight”, and engaging in play with your child’s favorite toy and/or activity, you can create motivating learning situations in which your child is more likely to attend to you and interact with you. You are blowing the bubbles and your child is smiling, looking at you, looking at the bubbles, reaching for the bubbles, and anticipating the bubbles. We can use the bubbles as motivation to develop your child’s current communication (smiling, looking, reaching, anticipating) into clear gestures, words, or sentences by providing your child with the communication opportunities.
