There is something so fascinating about hopping in a tuk-tuk in Bangkok’s Old Quarter. Here’s a short video I made in my local fresh market in Onnut. You will also find small pockets of street food throughout the suburbs in lower Sukhumvit like Phrakonong and Onnut. There is a small floating market, lots of small farms, and a huge wetland park on the island.

The island has some stunning secluded beaches, however, Ao Tapao is definitely one of the best you will find. The most popular route to Kalanggaman is through Malapascua Island, which is known as one of the best scuba diving destinations in Southeast Asia. The best of the island’s marine life is found along Teluk Pauh Beach on Perhentian Besar (the Big Island). It is best known for scuba diving and snorkeling, which is spectacular, however, the island is also surrounded by white sandy beaches and clear blue water which are equally as amazing.

One day you could be showering under a waterfall and exploring ancient Buddhist temples, the next you could be scuba diving some of the world’s best coral reefs and kicking back at a reggae beach bar. If you head up this way, be sure to check out a local homestay in Cao Bang, it’s a great way to actually live the village life with a Vietnamese family. The next day you can head a little further out of town to explore the huge Tonle Sap lake where you will find villages floating on the water, it is a very unique destination to add to your Southeast Asia itinerary. There are three main beaches on Koh Lipe; Sunset Beach, Sunrise Beach, and Pattaya beach. There are also a few other small beaches around the island which many visitors don’t know about like; Pitiusas Beach, and Koh Lipe’s Secret Beach on the western end of the island, and Bulow Beach on the north coast. Sunset Beach is much less developed than Sunrise Beach and Pattaya Beach. Bayview Sunset Bungalows is located on Sunset Beach, Koh Lipe’s quieter beach.
